SBO equips local leaders to teach micro-business skills, fostering dignity, purpose, and community renewal through Christ-centered training.
In rural villages and bustling cities across Africa and Southeast Asia, Simple Business Outreach (SBO) groups are transforming lives—one gathering at a time. Picture farmers, street vendors, single mothers, and young dreamers gathered around a projector or under a tree, learning practical skills to start and grow small businesses. Led by trained SBO leaders from their own communities, these groups discuss, apply, and dream big.
Every lesson is grounded in biblical principles, equipping participants to earn income, lead with integrity, and serve their communities. With over 40 trained leaders, SBO reaches the vulnerable with hope, dignity, and tools for lasting change. This isn’t just business training—it’s purpose discovered and communities renewed.
Simple Business Outreach (SBO) is a practical, flexible program designed to equip local leaders to teach micro-business skills that lead to real transformation. Through a 12–23 session curriculum, trained SBO leaders guide individuals—many with little or no formal education—through the essentials of starting and growing a small business.
With two tailored tracks, SBO adapts to different cultural and spiritual contexts:
Kingdom Impact Track – for Christian participants, integrating clear biblical teaching and business discipleship
Community Impact Track – for mixed or non-Christian audiences, teaching solid business principles rooted in biblical values, with natural opportunities to share faith respectfully
Four Learning Levels, Tailored to the Learner:
Oral Learners (13 lessons) – Designed for non-literate learners such as farmers, fishermen, and street vendors
Basic Readers (12 lessons) – For those with elementary-level literacy, including small market sellers, survivors of trafficking or trauma, and day laborers
Intermediate (18–23 lessons) – For learners with junior high to high school education, running or starting micro-businesses
Intermediate+ (18–23 lessons) – For high school or university-educated learners, focusing on more advanced topics like math, planning, and critical thinking
Each session can be co-taught using engaging video content, followed by guided discussions and hands-on activities led by a trained SBO leader.
SBO has been used successfully with former prisoners, drug dealers, stay-at-home parents, pastors, missionaries, seminary students, and everyday entrepreneurs. Whether in rural villages or urban centers, SBO is making a difference.
